We are pleased to announce that Jordan Kasteler joined our team this week in the Senior SEO Manager role. In this role, Jordan will lead and contribute to the growth of the SEO practice at Red Door, including developing the strategy, processes and tools that make it possible to exceed our clients’ SEO goals and increase search revenue.
Jordan is considered an industry expert, writing for publications like Search Engine Land and speaking at conferences like SMX. He has been involved in digital marketing since 2001, running SEO and content marketing programs in a variety of settings. He has worked in the non-profit sector, client-side, agency-side, and as an independent consultant.
Here is an interview with Jordan that will help you get to know him!
What do you love about SEO?
I love tearing sites apart to find issues and recommend fixes. I’m quite technical and enjoy looking at code, structure, etc to help a site get more visibility from search. But on the flip side, I also love being creative and coming up with ideas that generate traffic, leads, and links via content.
When did you start your SEO career?
I truly started SEO before it had a name and before I knew I was doing SEO. I started creating sites in my Jr. High years where I’d get them ranked on WebCrawler.com via meta tags. It wasn’t until my self-taught experience in web development and graphic design led to me a job where SEO was part of what I did in creating sites. Upon graduating high school (2001) is when I pursued that full-time and have been involved with SEO since.
How do you stay current on SEO trends?
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t spend at least an hour vetting and reading industry-related links from around the Web. I queue everything up with the Pocket Chrome Add-on and then read articles at night on my iPad. I also have always had “sandbox” sites to play with to test various tactics on. I speak at and attend various Internet marketing conferences where I learn from presentations and connections made with other industry professionals.
Why are you excited to join Red Door?
I’ve known about Red Door, via John Faris, for quite some years. I co-owned an agency at one point, BlueGlass Interactive, where I had my first experience working with Red Door as a vendor to them. But it was the past year or two when I did some contract work for Red Door when I fell in love with the work and setup for clients. I said to myself “I’d love to just do this full-time.” Combine that with how Red Door portrays such a great culture on social media and I knew this was the place for me.
What will you do in your role as Senior SEO Manager at Red Door?
Helping clients achieve results through search marketing strategy, tactics, and content.
When you’re not doing SEO, what are you doing?
Skateboarding, snowboarding, reading (non-fiction), or environmental and animal activism.
Welcome to the Red Door family, Jordan!
