Start cleaning out your pantries! Red Door Interactive’s philanthropy committee has registered a food drive at each of our office locations. The big red bins are set up and waiting to be filled with your food donations from now until Friday, October 1st at noon. The food collected at our San Diego and Carlsbad locations will go to the San Diego Food Bank, and the collected food in Denver will go to the Food Bank of the Rockies. The SD Food Bank donates over 15 million pounds of food annually, and the Food Bank of the Rockies has provided nearly 325 million pounds of food since inception. That’s a whole lot of food, and with each item placed in the red bins we can help to support these great organizations in their quest to feed the hungry in our communities. All are welcome to contribute, so please bring your donations to any of our offices.
The Food Banks can accept: canned meats (tuna, ham, chicken), canned soup, canned or dried fruits, canned vegetables, dried beans, rice & cereal, peanut butter, powdered milk, infant formula, packaged nuts and seeds and dried pasta.
FBR prefers not to and the SD FOOD BANK is unable to accept : glass jars, including baby food, home canned or baked products.
The Food Drive is just one of many programs that Red Door Caring Hearts, RDI’s philanthropy program, participates in. Red Door Caring Hearts originated to provide employees with a way to share, promote, and participate in philanthropic events/programs we are passionate about. In an effort to foster a workplace that supports giving back to the community and provide a communication platform to share, Red Door Caring Hearts established a Faceboook group. We use the Facebook group to share any charitable work we are doing, photos, upcoming volunteering events, or resources related to philanthropy. The Facebook group helps to further employee involvement in the Red Door Caring Hearts program and in the communities in which we live and work, such as the recent Beach Clean-up and volunteering at the MS Walk.
The Food Drive is a great opportunity to help feed the needy in our communities, and we hope you all join us in contributing. The bins are ready and waiting, so stop by any of our three office locations.
About San Diego Food Bank: www.sandiegofoodbank.org
Established in 1977, the San Diego Food Bank is a critical component to the welfare of San Diego County, providing food to people in need, advocating for the hungry and educating the public about hunger-related issues. Through a combination of government programs and partnerships with over 350 San Diego County nonprofit charities, the Food Bank acts as a central repository and distribution point for government and donated food. Funded by foundations, grants, the USDA, corporations, sponsors and individual donors, the Food Bank distributes over 15 million pounds of food annually to individuals, families and a network of nonprofit organizations that work to alleviate hunger throughout the county.
