We:30 Share & Tell: Paige Brings Her Handstands

Every Wednesday at 3:30 we get together to celebrate an employee who exemplifies our core values to inspire, share, evolve, exceed and be 100% jerk-free. Our Share and Tell edition invites an employee to share something that inspires them and has a unique story. This week Paige, our Digital Analyst Intern, brings her handstands!

My special share today is a handstand (well, lots of handstands)! For those of you who do not know, I was a competitive gymnast for fifteen years. I competed in the Junior Olympic Program for 11 years before competing on the Division I gymnastics team at the University of Denver.
A handstand is the fundamental of gymnastics. I started doing handstands when I was very young, and ever since, my parents haven’t been able to keep me right side up!

Here are a few fun handstand facts:

  • I can hold a handstand for over a minute
  • I can walk on my hands- forward, backward, and sideways
  • I can press into a handstand from a seated position
  • I take handstand pictures in every fun environment that I encounter

The last point explains the pictures here. Whether I am at the beach, on a hike, visiting Disney or the Arch, or just playing in the snow, I love to take a handstand picture. It is a cool talent that I have and I enjoy finding new places to take them. It has become my “signature pose”!
Beyond my gymnastics success, handstands are significant in my life. They require balance and strength; going upside down can automatically bring a smile to my face and lighten my mood; and it challenges my creativity to find new places to take handstand pictures.
