We:30 Share and Tell: Bill's Diving Gear
Every Wednesday at 3:30 we get together to celebrate an employee who exemplifies our core values to inspire, share, evolve, exceed and be 100% jerk-free. Our weekly Share and Tell invites an employee to share something that inspires them.
This week Bill brought his diving gear!
I’ve been diving, officially, since 1989 and I'm an avid wreck diver, cave diver and technical diver. I dive predominately in the Southern California area and enjoy practicing underwater videography and photography here and in the extensive cave system of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.
About 6 years ago I took the plunge and purchased a Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) to expand my flexibility in shipwreck exploration. In normal SCUBA, the deeper you go, the more breathing gas you use which limits your bottom time. A CCR solves this by re-cycling the gas that I breath which allows me to have a much larger gas supply in a small package. It’s also silent so I can get closer to wildlife and for deep dives it is much safer. Downside is that they are very complex and expensive to operate.
Diving allows me to experience a place that few people get to see, it also brought me to San Diego and I’ve amassed a wide variety of friends because of it. I try to dive almost every weekend and it’s my way of decompressing.
