Keeping it in the Family-Red Door Wins SDBJ Family-Owned Business Award!

Red Door Interactive took home a 2014 San Diego Business Journal Family-Owned Business Award which recognizes families that have formed and transformed the economic landscape of San Diego. Husband and wife, Reid and Amy Carr started Red Door in 2002 and have watched it grow into a company that not only produces great work, but also has a unique company culture where their family values are part of day to day office interactions. 




The business celebrated its 12th anniversary in February 2014. In that time Red Door has grown from $0 in the beginning with four employees, including Reid and Amy, to more than $12 million in annual sales and more than 50 employees. Red Door has grown by providing advertising and digital marketing for clients including Garden Fresh, Bosch & Thermador, Rubio’s Restaurants Inc., Univision and Charlotte Russe. Headquartered in the downtown’s East Village, the company also has a satellite office in Carlsbad and an office in Denver, Colorado. Reid Carr leads the seven-person leadership team whose average tenure is more than nine years. Amy Carr is executive Vice President for Human Resources and also oversees the finance and accounting department as the CFO. Red Door's supportive and collaborative work culture led to Advertising Age naming the agency one of the Best Places to Work in Marketing and Advertising in 2010 and 2012.

The Carr’s support the San Diego community including work with several nonprofits. Reid Carr serves on the board of directors for the San Diego Chapter of the United Way and Voice of San Diego. He is an active member of the downtown Rotary Club 33, Chairman’s Round Table and Young Presidents’ Organization. Their elementary school age son enjoys visiting the office with his parents and learning about the family business though isn’t ready for an internship just yet.
