We:30 of the Week: Kate!

We:30 is a weekly tradition here at Red Door Interactive, in which we take the time to celebrate and feature an employee who exemplifies our core values to inspire, share, evolve, exceed, and be 100% jerk-free. We:30 also gives us a chance to learn some interesting and fun facts about the featured employee!
  • I think my ‘Adaptability’ strength has lead me through multiple successful positions during my worklife: ESL instructor abroad and in the States, web developer, project manager, and now back to education with an HR/corporate focus.
  • I lived three years in São Paulo, Brazil with my family when I was a little child. I learned to speak Portuguese at the same time I was learning English. Unfortunately, I forgot nearly all of it when I returned at age 5.
  • I got my Girl Scout Gold Award in high school and am a lifetime member of GSUSA. But I don’t have a daughter to keep the scouting tradition going in my family. That’s OK – I wouldn’t trade my two boys for anything!
  • I’m a Michigander – born in Dearborn (home of Henry Ford) and & raised in East Lansing (home of the MSU Spartans). My husband, Dan, & I moved out to San Diego more than 20 years ago, so our kids, Frank & Russell, are Californians. Michigan is a nice state to be from.
  • I love singing, but have a terrible voice. This leaves me singing along with the car radio when I’m by myself.
  • Dan & I have traveled and taught in Spain, Ecuador, & Indonesia, and we plan on doing that again when we retire. The countdown is on for my younger son, Frank, to get through college. 5 years, 4 years, 3, 2, 1....
  • I recently got hooked on Candy Crush and have been stuck on level 39 for 20+ attempts. I’m ready to give it to Frank to pass it for me.
  • I am the Director of People Development here at Red Door, which means I make sure that you have access to the best people & opportunities to foster your personal & professional growth. That, in turn, allows you to give your best to making our clients successful and making Red Door a world-class agency.
