Popular Wi-Fi Resource Site Created by San Diego’s Red Door Interactive Named Finalist for South by Southwest Awards
- One Month after Launch Airshare.org Named Developer’s Resource Finalist by SXSW -
San Diego, CA, February 11, 2003 - – Red Door Interactive, a San Diego-based Internet presence and strategy development firm, announced that Airshare.org, a Web site designed, co-sponsored and managed by the firm, was nominated as a Developer’s Resource finalist in the South by the Southwest Awards (SXSW). The SXSW Website Competition targets the frontier of innovation and uncovering the best new online creations. Developer's Resource category nominations are given to “places to go for information, tools and advice that drive the net.”
Airshare.org is a community site dedicated to the topic of Wireless LAN's (Wi-Fi technology) where “newbies, experts, geeks, analysts, reporters and enthusiasts” can go to “comfortably share bandwidth, and information.” In its first month, the site at http://airshare.org/ already receives as many as 3000 visitors a day, drawn to the wireless repository’s:
Teaching articles on using Wi-Fi from the home, work and for service providers, with topics such as, “Wi-Fi 1-2-3” and “the Pringles Can Antennae”

“Airshare.org is a proud example of how we encourage San Diegans to reach out to the world through volunteerism with our wealth of resources and knowledge in telecommunications," said San Diego Telecom Council Board President Marco Thompson.
“ This is great!” said nationally-known Web Designer and Writer Jeffrey Zeldman, widely considered a leader in the web standards movement, with over fifteen million visitors to his own Happy Cog site, is also a proponent, “Looks swell, reads great, navigates easily, and it validates against XHTML 1.0.”
Other nominations for the Developer’s Resource category include: All Consuming, Flash Goddess, Tangent and Usable Help. The deadline for voting for SXSW is 12 noon (CST) on March 1 at http://www.sxsw.com/vote/peoples_choice/. The winner will be announced March 9 at the SXSW Web Awards Show at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, TX.
