Red Door Interactive Develops Web Site and Extranet for WiMAX Forum

- San Diego-based firm creates interactive presence for group led by Ensemble Communications, Nokia and leading telecom companies -

San Diego - October 9, 2002 - Red Door Interactive, a provider of Internet presence management services, today announced that it has developed a Web site and extranet for the newly formed WiMAX Forum, an organization established to promote wide-scale adoption of WirelessMANTM air interface for fixed broadband wireless access systems, IEEE® Standard 802.16™. WiMax Forum members include Agilent Technologies, Ensemble Communications, Hughes Network Systems, Intracom, Nera, Nokia, Provigent and others.

The WiMAX Forum will use the Web site to assist in communication and collaboration efforts as it builds global consensus standards to certify interoperability of various wireless network products and technologies from multiple manufacturers.

Red Door's dynamic Web site design was a response to the organization's desire to promote membership and industry involvement while creating an efficient way to share and quickly disseminate documents for review and commentary among members. The site enables WiMAX Forum to communicate news and critical, time sensitive information on WirelessMAN specifications with its diverse audiences including engineers, systems integrators, component and subsystem suppliers, network operators, the media, and industry analysts.

To accomplish this, Red Door created a site that addresses the unique needs and interests of the various technical working groups within the WiMAX Forum while creating time efficiencies for them; each group can view its own information without having to wade through the data that isn't pertinent to it.

"Red Door delivered a site that was on time and on budget. The site will foster collaboration and innovation among members as WiMAX continues to define and commercialize the established global standard for IEEE 802.16, WirelessMAN," said Mr. Mika Skarp, president of WiMAX and Nokia's broadband wireless program manager. "We view Red Door as a key partner as WiMAX moves forward."

In addition to providing a public information portal, Red Door built functionality that enables working group leaders to post agendas, meeting notes, new specifications, updates and white papers using a password protected Web interface. The site also enables the transfer of large files and e-mail list management.

Red Door developed this extranet to support a global collaborative environment. Members are able to submit articles, white papers and opinions for posting on the site. Group leaders then review and post information to the site themselves, eliminating additional administration services and reducing cost.

Media and industry analysts have access to a virtual media center to access organizational news releases, articles, general information on fixed broadband wireless, certification specifications, Forum activities and member news.

"Red Door designed the WiMAX site to address the needs of all the organization's stakeholders. We created a site that would serve as a centralized, electronic 'meeting place' to provide members with an equal voice regardless of location or time zones," said Reid Carr, president of Red Door Interactive. "Our expertise lies in developing and continuing to assess smart ways to use the Internet to create efficiencies, streamline business processes, and ultimately save the organization time and money."
