Red Door Interactive’s Amy Carr honored as San Diego Business Journal’s HR Professional of Year for second straight year
Leadership in company’s low employee turnover rate, professional development programs noted in award
Red Door Interactive, a premier strategic Internet Presence Management firm, congratulates its HR director, Amy Carr, for being a San Diego Business Journal’s HR Professional of the Year honoree two years running.
The publication named her such under its Private Small Company category, and credited her leadership with the company’s low annual turnover rate and professional development programs as keys to her selection.
“To say Amy has been instrumental is our consistent year-over-year double digit growth is an understatement,” said Merritt Carver, director of operations for Red Door Interactive. “She has also seamlessly built our staff from four people in 2002 to more than 50 today by recruiting and retaining people who have a passion for helping companies profit from their Web initiatives.”
The programs Carr has implemented since Red Door’s inception seven years ago include:
- A “100 percent jerk-free” workplace policy, where employees are valued and respected for their work and contribution.
- A six-week strength training course for all employees.
- Monthly leadership training workshops.
- Management training seminars on employment law.
- Variable-pay plan to reward employees for specific company goals.
- Performance evaluation and goal-setting software roll out.
Carr was also named an honoree for the award by in 2008.
