Social network put to work

Monique Marshall likes to shop at fashion retailer Charlotte Russe, so it was only logical that when she saw its page on Facebook she became a fan.

“I actually love the clothes and figured that the fan page would have sneak peeks of new styles coming out,” Marshall, 26, said in an e-mail. “So far, I've been right.”

Marshall said she checks the site almost every day to see if there are any new promotions or coupons. After making two separate online purchases in the same day, Marshall wrote about her “obsession” with the store on Charlotte Russe's Facebook wall, sharing her excitement with about 21,000 fellow fans.
